چکیده
Heat stress (HS) lead to intestinal epithelial damage through induction of cellular oxidative stress. Since Zn is an essential nutrient with antioxidant properties that involved in maintaining the barrier function, this study aimed examine effects supplementation epithelium under HS. Caco-2 cells were pre-incubated (50 and 100 µM) prior control (37 °C) or HS conditions (41–42 for 24 h. pretreatment reduced lactate dehydrogenase release, a parameter reflecting cell membrane damage. alleviated ROS generation exposed promoted activity enzymes. Moreover, (specially 50 partly attenuated induced on monolayer integrity as measured by transepithelial electrical resistance phenol red permeability. Therefore, had beneficial evoked high temperatures may be useful nutritional strategy against global warming.

Eicosapentaenoic Acid Enhances Heat Stress-Impaired Intestinal Epithelial Barrier Function in Caco-2 Cells
OBJECTIVE Dysfunction of the intestinal epithelial tight junction (TJ) barrier is known to have an important etiologic role in the pathophysiology of heat stroke. N-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), including eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), play a role in maintaining and protecting the TJ structure and function. This study is aimed at investigating whether n-3 P...
متن کاملAlpha-Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone Protects against Cytokine-Induced Barrier Damage in Caco-2 Intestinal Epithelial Monolayers
Alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) is a potent anti-inflammatory peptide with cytoprotective effect in various tissues. The present investigation demonstrates the ability of α-MSH to interact with intestinal epithelial cell monolayers and mitigate inflammatory processes of the epithelial barrier. The protective effect of α-MSH was studied on Caco-2 human intestinal epithelial monolaye...
متن کاملEthanol-induced DNA damage and repair-related molecules in human intestinal epithelial Caco-2 cells
The acute administration of ethanol to intestinal epithelial cells causes increased intestinal permeability and the translocation of endotoxins. The changes caused by ethanol in intestinal cells may be related to oxidative stress and DNA damage. However, DNA damage and repair-related molecules which act against stresses, including ethanol, have not been fully investigated in intestinal cells. H...
متن کاملIntestinal Epithelial Model - the Caco-2 Cell Monolayer
The absorption of orally administered drugs requires their movement across the intestinal epithelial barrier. Poor intestinal permeability leads to limited absorption. Generally, if a compound achieves a 90% or greater oral absorption, it is considered highly permeable (for example, propranolol or metoprolol). Drugs that display 50% or less oral absorption are considered poorly permeable (for e...
متن کاملEffect of neuronal PC12 cells on the functional properties of intestinal epithelial Caco-2 cells.
The effect of neuronal cells on the functional properties of intestinal epithelial cells was examined by using an in vitro coculture system. Two cell lines, Caco-2 and PC12, were respectively used as intestinal epithelial and enteric neuronal cell models. Coculture of differentiated Caco-2 cells with PC12 caused a significant decrease in the transepithelial electrical resistance (TER) value of ...
